Revenue

Commission cap

A maximum payout amount or duration applied to a partner commission rule.

Definition

A commission cap limits how much an affiliate can earn from a customer, plan, period or program. Caps can be monetary, time-based or tied to a fixed number of subscription payments.

B2B SaaS context

Caps help SaaS teams protect unit economics when a high-value account expands significantly after the original referral. They also make financial exposure easier to forecast.

Operator note

State whether caps apply per customer, per affiliate, per month or per program, and make cap progress visible in payout calculations.

Turn the definition into operating rules

RefCampaign helps recurring SaaS teams translate attribution, refunds and payout policies into a partner program that can be audited.
