Webhook retry

A repeated delivery attempt for an event that was not successfully processed the first time.

Definition

Webhook retry occurs when a provider sends the same event again after a timeout, error or unavailable endpoint. Affiliate systems must treat retries as expected behavior, not as new conversions.

B2B SaaS context

Stripe and other billing systems can retry important revenue events, and those retries may arrive after related updates. A SaaS affiliate ledger must be idempotent to avoid duplicate commissions.

Operator note

Store provider event IDs, use atomic state checks and keep retry-safe processing around commissions, payout status and refund adjustments.

Turn the definition into operating rules

RefCampaign helps recurring SaaS teams translate attribution, refunds and payout policies into a partner program that can be audited.
