Revenue

Recurring commission

A partner reward paid on repeated subscription payments instead of only the first purchase.

Definition

Recurring commission pays affiliates a percentage or fixed amount for each eligible subscription payment across a defined duration. It is common in SaaS because partners can influence customers who renew over months or years.

B2B SaaS context

The model aligns partner incentives with retention, but it also increases payout liability. Merchants need clear limits around duration, plan changes, refund handling and whether expansion revenue is included.

Operator note

Publish the recurring period, eligible plans, excluded fees and clawback policy, then reconcile payouts against invoices rather than estimated subscription state.

Turn the definition into operating rules

RefCampaign helps recurring SaaS teams translate attribution, refunds and payout policies into a partner program that can be audited.
